PETE DVORAK

COACH • FOUNDER

Coach Dvorak began his pole vault journey in 1994 as a freshman at Madison Memorial high school (now Vel Phillips Memorial). Strongly influenced by his high school coach Casey Helgeson, coach Dvorak fell in love with the technical beauty of the event. Upon graduating Dvorak volunteered at Memorial for 3 years before pursuing his own college career at College of the Redwoods (CA). Upon returning from the west in 2006 Dvorak coached for 6 years at Madison East high school (‘06 - 11’, followed by 2 years at the university of Dubuque (‘12-‘13). He has been the pole vault coach at Vel Phillips Memorial since 2014, and it was that year he founded Madison Pole Vault Club with friend and fellow coach Ron Hull (Monona Grove ‘98).

Besides coaching pole vault coach Dvorak spent 25 years working in the restaurant industry upon graduating from Western Culinary Institute in Portland, OR. His knowledge and passion for the event as well as his patience for each individual’s natural progression has proven to be his best recipe.

ALLY MANISCALCO

Coach Ally Maniscalco grew up on Long Island in New York and started pole vaulting in 7th grade. She started pole vaulting because of a family history (two uncles pole vaulted) and felther gymnastics background would be an advantage. She fell in love with the sport because of how technically challenging it is. After high school Ally attended the University of Scranton (PA) where she majored in forensic chemistry and criminal justice and was a member of the track team specializing in pole vault, hurdles, and heptathlon. She holds the indoor and outdoor school records for Deer Park High School and the University of Scranton.

When she’s not coaching Ally works as a chemical and safety specialist for the UW- Madison.
